White Water River Rafting and Kayaking
Costa Rica offers an abundance of activities and sports for many interests and dozens of all weather activities and vacation things to do. Try your hand at white water rafting on our wild and scenic rivers from Class I to Class V. Or, if you prefer, try river kayaking or an ocean kayak.
Surfing in Costa Rica
Surfing is great in Costa Rica! Leave your wet suit at home and surf our tropical water, beach breaks, reef breaks, point breaks, and river mouth breaks at any one of many spots on the Pacific or Caribbean side. Wind-surfing champions have called Costa Rica's Lake Arenal area one of the world's top five wind surfing-spots! There, you can enjoy 29 mile rides across the lake.
Sport and Deep See Fishing
Costa Rica's Deep Sea Fishing in "aguas profundas" (deep waters) along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, from the Gulf of Papagayo to Golfito is world famous. It also offers the anglers some of the best blue water and inshore fishing in the world. Or try your "Petri Heil" at fresh water fishing in the Lake Arenal for an unforgettable rainbow bass dinner here called Tilapia. If you like SCUBA diving or snorkelling, Costa Rica has an incredible underwater variety of species to view.
Horseback Riding, Mountain Biking and Hiking
On horseback you can ride just about anywhere. Take long rides on the beach, beside a country road, through pastures, National Parks, and along forest trails or the Arenal Volcano area. The country's mountainous terrain and thousands of miles of highways, aerial trams, mountain and forest trails make mountain biking, hiking and trekking very popular, too.
Canyoning and Ballooning
Canyoning, is a new activity and involves repelling down through the centre of waterfalls, just like tree repelling on large tropical trees. Also, just recently catching on is the sport of ballooning. Select from the additional activities above - from bird watching, bungee jumping, canopy tours in the trees, motorcycle riding and sailing. You'll find it all here in our wonderful, tropical paradise called Costa Rica.
